Featuring Ralph Vaughn Williams cantata, Dona Nobis Pacem, the concert presents moving works remembering the fallen and longing for peace. We also celebrate the 200th anniversary of our national anthem with a star-spangled array of stirring patriotic songs, including our own 200-year-old Star Spangled Banner!

Messe Solonnelle de Ste. Cecile by Charles Gounod, and Requiem Opus 9 by Maurice Durufle, with professional soloists and Organist Brett Maguire.
Gounod’s lyrical and reverent Mass with soprano Elissa Alvarez; tenor Carl Kinkel; and bass John Salvi will be presented with the more familiar Requiem of Durufle, featuring mezzo Margaret Lias and the Algonquin RHS Camerata Choir (Kathrine Waters, Dir.).

Myriad Colors featuring “Mass In Blue” – This first concert of the season celebrates color in both sound and text. The Master Singers, joined by soprano Monica Hatch, and the WPI Jazz Band, directed by Rich Falco, will feature the Worcester premiere of “Mass in Blue”, an innovative and compelling new work by the English composer Will Todd. The chorus also presents colorful works by Casals, Ellington, Sondheim, and other composers, accompanied by pianist Olga Rogach.

Bach, and Salisbury Singers celebrates Bachs 330th birthday with a performance of several well-known Bach choral works: the glorious motet Jesu meine Freude, the festive cantata #1 Wie schn leuchtet der Morgenstern, and the lovely wedding cantata #196 Der Herr denket an uns. Accompanied by the Bach Consort of Worcester, the Singers present a concert of Baroque elegance and magnificence.

This concert will include settings of Thoreau in “To Love This Earth” by Gwyneth Walker, the Chief Seattle text “Earth Is Our Mother” by Dave Brubeck, and the spectacular paean to the Creator of the natural world, “Benedicite”, by Andrew Carter.

Assabet Valley Chambersingers, a select chorus of 18 members, will sing a portion of the program.
